Emphasis Project

The project

Emphasis is a multi-actor approach project funded under EU Horizon 2020 Programme. The project is coordinated by Torino University and involves 22 partners from 9 European Countries aiming at fighting pathogens and pests in agricultural crops and forests, while paying particular attention to invasive alien species that reach Europe from other continents as a consequence of globalisation. The overall goal is to ensure a EU food security system and protection of biodiversity and ecosystem services while developing integrated mechanisms of response measures.

Moverim activitites

Moverim contributes to the stakeholders’ engagement with the goal of assessing decision taking analysis to co-design innovation and innovative solutions for pest management. Moreover, the company is in charge of the organization of open workshops, events and trainings and carries out dissemination activities for policy-makers, general public and scientific community to ensure awareness, knowledge and implementation of project results.
Some of Moverim activates carried out during the project lifetime are:
– The technical workshop on “Stakeholder dialogue to foster investment in agriculture and IPM (Integrated Pest Management) strategies” official partner event of the EU Green Week 2016 in Brussels at the Delegation of the Government of Catalonia to the European Union. The workshop aimed to foster mutual learning processes among experts, researchers, farmers, foresters and other stakeholders about the existing pest management technologies and techniques, and how to face future challenges implementing a participatory methodology.
– One short survey translated in several EU languages (EN, DE, FR, ES, IT, RO, PL, HU, LV) addressed to farmers and foresters to understand how they deal with plant health threats. The information gathered through the activity was very important to understand which plant health threats are the most critical to the European agriculture and forestry fields. It also identified which control and surveillance methods are currently used to deal with these threats. The information gathered through this survey (collecting 1077 answers) assisted EMPHASIS researchers and partners to develop technologies that meet the demands of end-users and other stakeholders and it was analysed in deep in the deliverable “Decision taking analysis”;
– organization of 5 scientific webinars that can be found on Emphasis Youtube channel.
